Welcome to Our Last Full Week of School!
This week we will be diligently trying to complete our reading of Holes or The Giver depending on which class your student is in. The students have very much enjoyed both of these books! Also, although all library books were due this last Friday, students still have until this Friday to get any last-minute AR points. They may read from personal books/devices, check books out from teachers’ personal collections, or even visit the Clifton Public Library to check out books. Due to students having less time to reach their goals this grading period, I have adjusted their points accordingly.
We will also be finishing a Memorial Day project in which we are writing letters to World War II veterans as part of the Honor Flight organization which provides these veterans with an opportunity to visit Washington DC free of charge. Clifton Middle School will be sending 85 letters that will be flown to DC this week and given to veterans as part of ‘mail call’ on their return flights back to DFW.
Final exam review sheets will be sent home with students this week; however the Reading final will simply consist of several stories with various types of comprehension questions similar to the STAAR test. Have a GREAT 3-day weekend and Happy Memorial Day!
